Binding whether bias or straight grain is one of the most effective embellishments for a garment – from the most delicate to the dramatic! Fabric selection and combinations are important to creating the effect you hope to achieve. Bindings also are an opportunity to use fabrics that you might not select for the entire garment, such as bright bold colors and shiny brocades. Bindings might also include ribbons, braids, lace or other trims. Inserting piping or a folded piece of bias in the binding seam will add another eye-catching detail.
