Sit & Sew - 3-Day Workshop

Sometimes we just need to do something for ourselves. For three days and nights immerse yourself in sewing, collaboration, inspiration, and learning. You will have a hands‐on sewing‐oriented learning opportunity. Give your work that polished look. Create the right finishing details for hems, bindings, miters and more.

The goal of this getaway is to have enjoyable days of personal consultations with Linda Lee from The Sewing Workshop Pattern Collection and Louise Cutting from The Cutting Line Design Pattern Collection. Experience the fashion and wardrobe building trunk shows from these two companies, each with its own unique design features.

Come and enjoy days of sewing while working on a pattern of your choice from the two companies. Receive the help you need to make the right pattern adjustments for good fit. Throughout the days Linda & Louise will demonstrate easy and time‐saving sewing techniques. You will find that many ideas will transfer to your other garments. Enjoy and benefit with being with others who share your passion. Some of the techniques Linda will be covering include fabric consultation; fine finishing skills; specific needs of special fabrics; hemming finishes including knits; mitered corner techniques; techniques to improve your overall product. Louise will be including deconstruction edges for garment edges of all forms; rolling seams on different sections of garments; edge stitching for perfect corners; proper pinning and pressing skills; extension from the 40’s with a double bias. We are very excited to have these teachers coming to Asheville. Sign up early as we have already have tons of interest in this workshop. We are limiting the attendance to 30 people. Sign ups will be taken on a first come‐first serve basis.

When : Sunday, November 1‐‐‐Cocktail party and trunk shows held at Waechter’s Fine Fabrics. November 2, 3, & 4, day classes with Linda and Louise. Dinner at Joyce’s home Tuesday evening, November 3.

Cost : $575.00 includes all three days of sewing seminar with Louise and Linda; opening night cocktail party and trunk show; deli lunch served daily during classes; Dinner with Joyce and her staff at her home on Tuesday. Hotel and transportation are separate.

Class Location : We are planning to have the workshop at Waechter’s Fine Fabrics…our new location in Biltmore Village, 9‐D Reed Street, Asheville, NC 28803‐2683.

Registration Policies : To register, e‐mail initial sign up form to classes@waechters.com. Along with e‐mailing the form, please send us a deposit check for $100 to secure your place. We will hold your spot on the list for ten days to give you time to send in your check. Your deposit reserves your space since the number of participants is limited. Your initial deposit is non‐refundable. All deposits must be received by August 1, 2009. Final balance is due October 1, 2009. Late summer, after we receive your deposit, we will send the supply list, confirmation letter, hotel specifics, and any other information you will need to know.
