The Home and Garden Television (HGTV) program ‘Sew Much More’ with
Susan Khalje, asked Louise to co-host two segments. These programs have
each eaired 8 times over a two-year period. Sue Hausmann, has had Louise
as a guest for two garment technique shows on America Sews for PBS.
Thirty years ago Louise founded ‘Cutting Corners, Inc’ a
successful custom clothing business. She designed bridal gowns, tailored
suits, maternity, and high end sportswear.
Louise has also owned her own fashion fabric store. She is a fashion
illustrator and did many newspaper fashion ads while working for Joseph
Advertising Agency. Many of her illustrations were in Vogue and Harpers
Bazaar.
Louise was also the Department Head of the Fashion Merchandising and
Design program at The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and Prospect Hall
College. She taught Interior Design at Mary Mount College.
Louise’s latest project is her Cutting Line Design Patterns. The
most famous of which is the “One Seam Pant”. To date she
has sold 22,000 of this pattern alone. Her patterns are clean simple
shapes and modern lines for a peaceful balance and easy elegance that
is very wearable. Her years of experience have helped her to compile
a series of six booklets on “Expert Tips and Techniques for Fine
Sewing”. Louise has much to teach and we at Waechter's Silk Shop
are thrilled to have her in Asheville.
