( June 4, 2008 ) It is always a pleasure to receive one of your little tissue wrapped packages with the golden medallion, the feathery leaf, and the button surprise. Who doesn't like getting presents? Thank you for exceptional service with a flair.
All my best,

( May 30, 2008 ) I just wanted to comment on two orders I recently received.
I ordered your Brussels linen, and batik rayon. I'm a longtime sewer, and would like to compliment you on your service as well as your quality of fabric. The last independent fabric store in my area is well into it's decline to crafty, so I must rely on online-purchasing.
Thanks so much for a great site.

( April 15, 2008 ) Dear Wonderful People at Waechter’s,
THANK YOU! Since I discovered you on the Internet, I have been completely addicted! I have already ordered several pieces of fabric (Liberty of London, linen tencel, Japanese cotton) – which, sadly, I am not talented enough to do anything with on my own – so I pass them off to a terrific local dressmaker who appreciates the quality of what you carry.

I LOVE your gallery. I check it frequently. Your garments are beautifully constructed and give me so much inspiration. Your descriptions of the fabric and fabric suggestions for the garments are really helpful. I find myself giving myself the V-8 knock on the head and saying 'why didn't I think of that" with some of the ideas. Your gallery keeps me on track and jump starts my creative mode! thanks.

( November 26, 2007 ) I ordered three perfect prints that are all I need to finish my queen-sized, all-Liberty (!) quilt. If I ever contemplate another one, I'll search your site for new prints and colorways.

p.s. Your site is informative and well organized, and the images load remarkably quickly for those of us still stuck with dial up.

( October 1, 2007 ) Thank you for the prompt service and thank you for a great website! Your shop is my favorite source for quality garment fabrics, patterns, and notions! Since I live in Charlotte, NC, and am not in Asheville on a regular basis, it was nice to be able to order two more buttons for the navy silk noil blouse I was making.
I spent several hours browsing through your fabrics, patterns, and notions on the web and then being able to order via the internet. It was the next best thing to spending time browsing through the store. Thank you for making it possible for those of us at a distance to get a "fabric fix" through the internet and order needed fabrics, etc. if we can't get to the store. You truly have unique and interesting quality fabrics. When I spend my time sewing, my hobby for 65 years, I want to use top quality fabrics which are difficult for the home sewer to find.
I will stop by the store next time I am in Asheville.

( September 17, 2007 ) Joyce and Elizabeth,
I received emails from both of you during the processing of my fabric order. I received my package today in the mail. I just want you to know how happy I am with the quality of the fabrics and the service. Thank you for the buttons also :-) what a treat. I look forward to doing future business with you in the very near future. Thank Waechter's for making my online buying experience a fun and pleasant one.

( August 27, 2007 ) Hi Joyce,
Just wanted to thank you again for having me teach at your wonderful shop! I appreciate you & your staff taking care of all the necessary details that make a seminar go well.
Susan & I really enjoyed the dinner with you & getting to visit with you away from the shop. And we appreciated your showing us some of the special sites of downtown Asheville. It's a beautiful place!
I had always heard about Waechter's and now am glad to have seen it! I will definitely recommend it!
Sincerely,
Carol Ahles

( August 22, 2007 ) Dear Waechter’s (especially Elizabeth who shipped my order),
Thanks so much for the prompt and excellent customer service! I ordered from you on Friday the 17th and received my order on Wednesday the 22 of August. Wonderful turnaround! The two buttons you threw in the package are lovely…quite the prettiest buttons I’ve seen in a long while.
I found your site while doing an internet search for fusible armo-weft which is recommended for an embroidery project I am doing and apparently not available anywhere locally. The local shops all responded with “Huh?” when I stopped in and asked for it. I was pleasantly surprised to see the lovely assortment of garment fabrics available in your shop… here in my part of PA those are no longer available since the garment industry that was such an important part of our economy went offshore in the 70’s and 80’s. I’ll be shopping from your site more often!
Thanks again,
Robin Smallen

Wanted to let you know that you have a great website. As a sewer getting back to sewing, I especially appreciate the photos of the patterns made into garments and the ideas for fabrics. That part is very helpful to me. I hope to visit in person the next time I am in Asheville.
Thank you,

| ( August 5, 2007 )
Just went to post office and picked up fabric... it's beautiful!! Nice
colors and lovely fabric. I am on a "tight budget" and am always
so pleased with my purchases on your website!! Fabric arrives so timely
and is "quality"!!
Thank you,

( August 1, 2007 ) Joyce,
Many thanks. I washed the cotton/linen in cold water with a little liquid detergent and put it in the dryer for about a half hour. The fabric came out very nicely. I love it. I am SO glad I was able to spend time at the shop. I'll be ordering a lot from you, I am sure. A sewer's paradise, indeed.
Best,

( July 8, 2007 ) Asheville
has a great store - Waechter's Silk Shop is an independent shop on Charlotte.
Beautiful fabrics, buttons and many patterns from the independent pattern
companies. They also have many of their favorite patterns worked up in
lovely fabrics that decorate the walls and many worked up ready for you
to try on! They also have fabrics for nice children's clothes, smocking
and heirloom sewing. The help in the store is top notch.

( June 20, 2007 ) Though
my husband’s email address may be in the return address for this
email, he is not the one who gets on your website nearly every day to get
inspiration from your gallery.
I LOVE viewing all your garments and hearing your descriptions, fabric
suggestions, and stories about each garment.
I love the independent pattern companies and use those patterns for most
of my sewing. What often most inspires me is when I see what someone else
has done to a pattern I have used. I’m thinking in particular of
a garment that the seamstress/designer simply made the top sleeveless for
a whole new look. Now, why didn’t I think of that?!!!
Your fabric descriptions are good too. I expected wonderful things from
the Brussels Washer fabric but was still surprised at how nice it launders
and how well it fakes linen!!
Keep up the good work! I hope you add some more garments to your gallery
soon!!!

| ( January 17, 2007 ) A
post from the Stitcher's Guild |
| ( January 17, 2007 ) I
read with interest your very helpful article in Threads monthly tips received
in today's email. A copy is being forwarded to my 11-yr-old granddaughter
whom Santa brought a sewing machine!
The big thrill, however, was seeing Waechter's Silk Shop at the end
of the instructions. That shop is responsible in great part for my love
of sewing: I adored Mr Waechter and was quite friendly with his sons,
so much so that beginning when I was in grade school I frequently went
there on my way home from school, which was no where near my school or
my home! I loved chatting with the men, but I had to see and touch and
ask about all the fabrics, the budding of my romance with textiles that
continues today.
My older sister made many of my clothes, including my graduation dress
from St Genevieve's in 1951. Mr Waechter ordered a gorgeous Swiss organdy,
embroidered with white bunches of lilies-of-the-valley, one of my favorite
flowers, for the formal dress. It was so pretty.
Sometime when I'm back in Asheville I'll stop by. I've passed your shop,
but usually in the evening or on weekends, so I haven't been in to say "hello".
Thank you for carrying on the tradition and name of one of the best
fabric stores in the country. I wish you all the best -

| ( October 15, 2006 ) Thank
you so much. I am so incredibly pleased with your products; to say nothing
of both the high level of professionalism and the friendly, very personable
way you treat/communicate with you online customers!
Your site is now marked in "my favorites". Rest assured I
will be back to shop again.
Thank you again. Sincerely,
Cecilia

| ( August 6, 2006 ) I'm
in Asheville, and was looking for a place to buy some fabrics and patterns,
getting back into sewing. I came across your website, and the fact you
guys maintain a blog has sold me. I've driven by your storefront many times,
but hadn't even thought about stopping in. But, the fact you have a good
website and a blog, I'll soon be visiting.
Anyhow, just though you might like to know that your online efforts
have gained you a customer.

| ( May 19, 2006 ) I just
wanted you to know how pleased and impressed I was to receive the pattern
I ordered from you so quickly. The fact that it was wrapped so nicely in
printed tissue paper was a very pleasant touch. I thought you must be a
very organized and thoughtful business. I order alot online and have never
written to thank anyone else :-)
Sincerely, Eileen Richard |
